Last minute sketch of my R2D2 am radio I've had since I was a kid. Unfortunately it has been raining, so no watercolor today. I'm crossing my fingers that the rest of the weekend is an improvement. Later!
Another Thursday night at GLHF, playing video games and trying to hang out and make connections. This time I drew someone who was sitting out on the patio with the sun behind them, so they were pretty much a silhouette. It was fun trying something a bit different. Looking at tomorrow, hopefully I'll get out and do a watercolor. Maybe back to the beach, work on my seascapes some more. Whatever happens, I want to thank you for taking a moment out of your day to check in and see
Here we are, number seventeen. I ended up setting up my toy dalek with a plastic palette behind it to sketch. Had light coming from my keyboard and the overhead light from the other side. One thing I am discovering with this sketch pad, it doesn't lay flat when I am scanning pages. Not a deal breaker, just something to note in the future. Enough for now, catch you all later! #stilllife #Dalek #palette #DoctorWho
The rains have stopped for today, the sun has come out to dry up the puddles. My son is checking out universities and such, to further his education and today's sketch is fresh from the waiting room of the first one we have visited. It was just me and the receptionist, and I could not really see him. So furniture sketching it is! The metal lamp was fun, though. At least I was able to get this practice in. Ta ta for now. #UrbanSketchersJacksonville #UrbanSketchers #UrbanSketch
Like the Carpenters sang, they get me down. Today was a rainy Monday and little opportunity to sketch outside of the home. So here is something I hope to turn into a painting soon. I love coming up with little situations and placing slightly anthropomorphic animals in them. Here we have a sideshow carnival Barker tempting the crowds. Whatever could be in this tent? There should be a return to form tomorrow. Take care, folks. #Jacksonville #SakuraMicron #anthropomorphic #anima
Took some time to sketch my In-Laws while they were watching television today. This is from the opposite side of the room that I normally sit and sketch. Another day done, looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a brighter, more cheerful day.
Here we are, on a Saturday and I have decided to include a couple pictures of my new pocket sketch pad. Two sketches in it, fits nicely in my back pocket and the paper is nice though I have just now discovered two smudged pages. Hopefully I can get that out. In daily sketch news, dusk last evening found me at the beach again. This time I stuck with ink illustration. Nice bit of clouds, again trying to give the water some movement and texture in the clouds. Birds were out and
Picked up a new pocket sketchbook, as not able to pick up another moleskine so I am trying something new. An Alpha Series softcover by Stillman & Birn. I will share a picture of it tomorrow, for those who are curious. Today's sketch is of my daughter's cat (Mao) hanging out with me in my studio. When he is in the mood, he likes to follow me around, see what I am doing, then eventually just take a nap near me. Thankfully, he stayed still long enough for me to get the basics of
Just before the start of work last night, I sketched this in the cafe. A nice start to an otherwise crummy night, where I got ill in the middle of it, then finished the last hour of my shift with a horrendous headache. Whee! #UrbanSketchersJacksonville #UrbanSketchers #SakuraMicron
Here is the companion piece to yesterdays seascape, this time I was facing South so you get to see some people and a bit of the buildings along the beach. Tried to capture how the beach seems to curve and the buildings in the background seem to disappear into a mist. At this point the light was fading faster than I could work, next time I should have a better handle on it. As always, repeated practice helps move towards perfection. Er, or something like that. One last thing,
