Haven't posted in just over a week, due to working on single panel comic strips for Knights of the Dinner Table and developing my next Patreon NPC. Here is what I can show you from this past week. Saturday night (the 14th) I getting a quick dinner and saw this family across the room. Made for a nice, quick sketch. This was from my lunch break on Saturday. I hadn't sketched at work for awhile, so decided to jump back in. Anyone out there sketch while they are at work? Whenever
Today was the April sketch crawl at Huguenot Park. It was a fun destination, with some great spots to sketch, it did have an entry fee of five dollars per car. My lesson for the day is to do more research before settling on a place to meet. Maybe if we go again, we can make a day of it. Enough of this, on with the sketching. There was a boy playing at the water's edge. Actually there were two but I was only quick enough to catch him. It was a nice start that have me the confi
As promised earlier, I was able to knock a sketch out while at GLHF tonight. It was nice to work on a different part of the room. Looking at the room from another perspective kind of freshens it up, keeps it from becoming monotonous. This may be the last Thursday night here for awhile, because my schedule is changing. This means there will be new venues to sketch and explore. Later folks, stay safe.
So last Friday I was heading out of town and would not be back until Sunday. Thought maybe I could get some sketching done while I was away, apparently I was wrong. Well, mostly. On the way home Sunday, my car has a flat tire that left me stranded for some time. I tried to sketch the traffic zipping past, but I could not keep the perspective straight. Eventually I got the tire changed (the flat had rusted onto the bolts) and was on my way. I am hoping to get back on track ton
I've been a busy little bee today, but not in regards to sketching outdoors. I have been designing creatures for a game I will be running on Saturday, though. This is one of them, going to refine the look a bit more. Going for an alien, not of this world vibe. So here ya go, take care and stay safe.
Tonight we tried a burger place close to the beach. The food was fine, the shakes were fantastic, and I was able to illustrate the patrons waiting in line. I used the table in the foreground as an anchor and measure for the rest of the picture. There was a bit of variety for the piece. Fun and one more sketch for the month. Take care everyone!
Here we finally get my dog to sit for a sketch. Waiting patiently under the dinner table, hoping for a scrap to appear. Just a little Pomeranian, hoping for some attention. Hopefully I'll get another chance to capture her essence again. Take care, catch you all later. #dog #Zelda #UrbanSketchersJacksonville #UrbanSketchers #Florida #Jacksonville #animals #StillmanBirn #SakuraMicron
Second sketch of April, another sketch of my daughter's cat. He likes to lay on the corner of the bed, adjacent to his scratching post, and stare out of the window. He really enjoys watching the world go by. It was great when the construction was going full steam, he would actually follow as the trucks went by. He has a lot of personality to him. I'll be back tomorrow with more, until then everyone take care. #cat #StillmanBirn #SakuraMicron #Mao #UrbanSketchersJacksonville #
I slipped up, no sketch last evening. I remembered as the night was ending and it was too late. So here is today's offering. It's a creature design for a game I'm running later this week. Tried to make it look like it's wearing shiny black latex. Tomorrowow I should be back on schedule, see ya then. #SakuraMicron #CrawlingUnderaBrokenMoon #alien
